Society
The Reeve’s tale is important to society during today’s and past age because it teaches the lesson of revenge. The Clerks wanted to get revenge on the Miller, which technically worked, but in doing so, they showed themselves as a villain too. The example of situational irony is that you are taught to believe that the heroes in a story have done no wrong, when in this situation, they were just as bad, if not worse, as the Miller was. We can hope that what goes around comes around with the clerks, but we will never know.
Alex Jones is similar to the Reeve in the story. The Reeve preaches false information, while Alex is a conspiracy theorist and preaches to believers. The Reeve preaches false for money, while Alex just genuinely believes that the world is out to get him.
